Achilleion Palace
The first exciting stop that we make today is at the Achilleion Palace, summer residence of the austrian empress Sissy and of the german emperor Wilhelm II. Enter this museum and walk through the different rooms that are open to the public. When you have finished your sightseeing tour in the building you will find the entrance to the lovely garden. Be aware of the breathtaking view that you will have from this spot all over the island and enjoy it as much as you can.
Vlacherna Monastery
Next stop is the peninsula Kanoni with it’s characteristic medieval Vlacherna Monastery as well as a spectacular view of Mouse Island and the airport platform. Of course we will also spend time in Corfu-town. It’s worth-while to visit the Church of Saint Spyridon, the town’s patron saint, and the Old Town. Take your time and wander by yourself through the old quarter with the narrow cobbled streets and explore this area with all it’s interesting places, for example the big square that is named “Espianada”.
